Cheatsheets privacy policy

Cheatsheets · Last updated:

This Privacy policy explains how Lucas Genesses Dias Bittencourt (trade name Lucas Bittencourt), a sole proprietorship registered in Brazil under CNPJ 42.564.890/0001-04, processes personal data in Cheatsheets, a web app with cheat sheets for command line tools (cheatsheet.lucasbittencourt.dev), under the Brazilian General Data Protection Law (Law No. 13,709/2018, "LGPD").

This is a translation. In case of any difference, the Portuguese version prevails. The lucasbittencourt.dev website has a Privacy policy of its own; this one covers only Cheatsheets.

2. What Cheatsheets does

Cheatsheets shows the shortcuts and commands of command line tools (tmux and kubectl), with search, a configurable prefix key or alias and one-click copy. Everything happens in the browser itself: there's no account, no login and no server that receives what you search or copy.

3. Data we process

Searches and copied commands

What you type in the search field is used only to filter the page on your device. It isn't sent, logged or kept. When you click a command, it's written to your device's clipboard; nothing is sent to a server.

Preferences in your browser

So you don't have to pick them again on every visit, your browser's local storage (localStorage) keeps the tmux prefix key and the kubectl alias you chose. They stay only on your device and aren't sent to servers.

Usage statistics

Cheatsheets uses no usage statistics or analytics tools.

Hosting logs

Vercel, which hosts the site, records technical data about requests (such as IP address, date and time and the address requested) in its platform logs, for its retention period, for operations and security.

4. Cookies

Cheatsheets uses no cookies: no session, advertising or analytics cookies.

The legal basis is the one in article 7 of the LGPD:

  • Security and technical logs: legitimate interest and compliance with a legal obligation.

6. Sharing

We don't sell personal data, use it for advertising or pass it on to data brokers. Data is shared only with:

  • Vercel: hosting of the site.
  • Public authorities: when required by law or court order.

7. International transfer

Vercel processes data on servers outside Brazil, including in the United States. These transfers follow article 33 of the LGPD, with a provider that adopts security and data protection measures.

8. How long we keep data

  • Preferences in your browser: until you delete them, by clearing the site's data in your browser settings.
  • Hosting logs: for Vercel's retention period.

9. Your rights

Under article 18 of the LGPD, you may request confirmation of processing, access, correction, anonymization, blocking or deletion, portability, information about sharing and withdrawal of consent. Since what you search and copy never reaches a server, there's no data of yours kept to look up or delete.

To exercise these rights, write to the email above. You can also file a complaint with Brazil's National Data Protection Authority (ANPD).

10. Security

All communication is encrypted (HTTPS), and what you search and copy never leaves your device. The fonts are served by the site itself, so loading the page sends no requests to third parties.

11. Children and teenagers

Cheatsheets doesn't knowingly collect children's data and asks for no personal data to work.

12. Changes

This policy may be updated. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page. See also the Terms of use and the website's Privacy policy.
